Talented performers, who take their role very seriously, had even dare to dump stunts for dangerous scenes.
It´s not like they planned on almost dying during these scenes; stunts, action or extremely dangerous requiring special preparation and a lot of coordination, almost finished with a tragic end. Here are some actors who were about to die on the film set.
Michael J. Fox
Michael Andrew Fox, (born June 9, 1961), known as Michael J. Fox, is a Canadian-American actor, author, producer, and activist. With a film and television career spanning from the 1970s, Fox's roles included his famous characterization of Marty McFly from the Back to the Future trilogy (1985–1990).

During one of the scenes of Back to the Future 3, the actor was pretending to hang himself, apparently practiced the scene standing on a box, but the effect was not as expected, so he decided to jump and hold 30 seconds hung to the point that he lost consciousness and was completely unconscious.
Tom Cruise (born as Thomas Cruise Mapother IV; July 3, 1962) is an American actor and filmmaker. Cruise has been nominated for three Academy Awards and has won three Golden Globe Awards. This time, Emily Blunt nearly ended his life while driving a vehicle in which Tom Cruise was the co-pilot, when she tried to make a drift and the car went too fast crashing into a tree.
Scarlett Johansson (born November 22, 1984) is an American actress, model, and singer. She made her film debut in North (1994). She shifted to adult roles with her performances in Girl with a Pearl Earring (2003) and Sofia Coppola's Lost in Translation (2003), for which she won a BAFTA award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. She has portrayed the Marvel Comics character Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The actress had quite a bad time during one of the scenes of Lucy, her backpack stuck in the door of the vehicle when she was trying to run away, the car dragged her on the driveway. Johansson’s started screaming until the driver heard and stopped the car.

A bad jump almost took his life

While filming one of the fights for Supercop, Jackie Chan jumped on a metal pole and slid down while several lightbulbs exploded around him. The actor ended up with two broken vertebras, a dislocated pelvis and burned hands.

In one scene, Stallone asked his companion Lundgren, to hit him as hard as possible to bring him down, something his heart couldn’t stand. The actor ended up in the hospital and was in intensive care for eight days.

Almost broke her neck

Theron had a serious accident when she did a bad backflip and almost to break her neck. The actress had to be rushed to the hospital. The recording of the film Aeon Flux was paralyzed for two months due the accident.

Successful actress Meryl Streep almost had an accident while filming the musical Into the Woods. In a scene where she had to jump on a table, her shoe was hooked on Meryl’s dress. The actress was about to fall back, but thanks to the fast intervention of Emily Blunt, the event was only a scare. She got lucky!

In a scene from "Now you see me," she plays a glamorous escapologist in which starts with dramatic shots of her freeing herself from shackles while submerged in a tank of water. The scene demanded her to bang desperately on the glass walls to give the impression of being in distress, but when her chains became entangled, she started to panic for real. People believed she was acting too well, but she wasn’t acting and was nearly drowning.

This time, it was Hamilton who was very unlucky. In the Wizard of Oz, the actress played an evil witch who used to disappear in clouds of smoke throughout the film, however, she failed to escape through the false door and sparks from the explosion burned her wardrobe due contact with her makeup. The actress was hospitalized for burns in second and third degree.
Jason Statham (born 26 July 1967) is an English actor. He is known for his roles in the Guy Ritchie crime films Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998), Snatch (2000), and Revolver (2005). He has also appeared in films such as the action thriller The Transporter trilogy (2002–08). In 2015, Statham starred in the latest entry in the Fast and the Furious franchise, Furious 7, and played a comedic role in the Melissa McCarthy film, Spy. He usually performs his own stage combat and stunts, and is noted for being typecast as an antihero.

The action star was lucky to survive after the car he was driving in a scene for The Expendables 3 crashed into the Black Sea. He was test-driving a three-ton truck and the brakes run out. The car sank almost 20 meters before Statham managed to escape. Luckily they had taken the doors off before and Jason could jump to survive.
