Costumes are very important for movies, in fact, there’s even a category in the Oscars focused on them, because they are part of the story of the film. If the clothing isn’t related to the time and style of the movie, it becomes a mess making people lose interest.
But since nothing and nobody is perfect, many films have fallen into huge mistakes when it comes to the costumes, especially on those films that are based on other eras.
So here we have 20 of the worst mistakes in the history of Hollywood movies, and some of them are really famous and well known movies.
The Wizard of Oz
We all remember Dorothy for her beautiful and bright pair of red shoes that she wears when she crosses the yellow road. So why is she wearing black shoes here?

There are many mistakes in this film; one of the most obvious errors is Nefertiti's dress, it was impossible to dye the silk of that color back in that time.

The film is set in 1960, however Baby wears shorts, these were invented for women until the year 1980, so she must have travelled in time.
It seems as if Captain America's suit was repaired at the moment by itself. Cool, isn't it?!
The story developed in 1858, but Django is wearing sunglasses, and they weren't used until 1929, in addition to the sunglasses of that era, were mainly for medical use.
Russel Crowe short tights that can be seen through his robe during his fight with the tiger, and we are quite sure that there were no tights yet in Rome.
All Nazis facing Harrison Ford wore World War II medals. But, the film is based on the time before the war began....

In the film George I is king of England, which means that the film is set in the years 1714 to 1727, And so the uniforms of the naval army don't belong to that time, because they were introduced until 1747.
Okay, now this mistake is way too obvious to not be notice. Han Solo's jacket appears out of nowhere in this other scene.
Movie based in the 90's where several characters were seen using Nike golf shoes. However, this brand invented those shoes in 1996.
The pirates of the caribbean
Apparently there is a cowboy lost in the ship of the pirates.
These thin glasses are very modern for the 1920s, the decade in which the film is based on.
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves
In one of the scenes we can see Robin using a spyglass, but these were invented in 1609.ç and the film dates back in the 1194.
The Wedding Singer
Drew Barrymore wears a hairstyle very common in the 90, the bad thing is that the film is set in 1980, where the hair was stylized with a lot of volume.
So Paris is using a beautiful umbrella, however these were invented 800 years after the time in which it is supposed to be set the film, which is around 400 dD
Minimal mistakes don't affect the popularity of the movies because after all they are excellent films. But, it's still fun to know this, isn't it?
